Snow avalanche videos from Youtube.com

Although skiing season is over for most of the people living in the Northern Hemisphere, it's still useful to refresh your memories; however, this time the memories we will remind you of might not be very enjoyable.

Our recent visit to Youtube.com in a hunt for some good footage of real snow avalanches revealed what's in all of us - a bit of adventure, a bit of fear, and in some of us, a lots of adrenaline. Below are four videos of around 1 min 30 sec in length on average.

Controlled snow avalanche

This video is called "Avalanche From Hell" and it truly is an avalanche from hell. The avalanche was triggered from a helicopter by an avalanche control team at Mt. Ruapehu, New Zealand. The avalanche is massive and especially watch how the whole glacier valley shatters into pieces in an instant.

Skier triggered avalanche

The next snow avalanche video is from European powder paradise - Verbier, Switzerland. Although we don't know what the snow conditions were like over there, the whole situation reminds of a classic scenario - sunny skies, good snow, bad ending...

Adrenaline rush avalanche

Everyone has their own threshold of fear for their life, with avalanches it is no different. The next one is from North Country Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where a man laughs afterwards...but is he really laughing...or is he scared to death?

And when everything goes right

Alaska. Peak 7601. Terje Haakonsen. And a fantastic snowboard descent of a 60° chute. This clip is from a movie First Descent in which a group of talented young skiers and snowboarders conquers majestic Alaska's slopes. Most likely an out-of-reach experience for many of us, it makes sense that you would push your limits when a helicopter is right there...or would you?
